Globes glory out for Moore, Gibson

Two of this year's most talked about films, Michael Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11' and Mel Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ' are out of the running for the top awards at this year's Golden Globes, according to Reuters.

Moore's movie cannot compete in any category because it is a documentary.

The rules of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which runs the awards, say that documentaries cannot be considered for the top film awards.

There is not a separate documentary category.

Gibson's 'The Passion of the Christ' is ineligible for the Best Drama award, because it is considered a foreign language film.

The HFPA's rules state that any feature with a non-English dialogue track is a foreign film and the Best Drama award is reserved for films in English.

'The Passion of the Christ' is, however, eligible for consideration for Best Foreign Film, and is eligible in all other categories.

The Golden Globe nominations will be announced on 13 December and the awards ceremony will take place on 16 January.
