Crime writer James Ellroy's new book 'Destination: Morgue! LA Tales' is set to be adapted for the screen.

The Hollywood Reporter says that film company Stone Village Pictures has optioned the film rights to the book, which contains some 14 stories, some fictional and others true.

The book also features three novellas about an LAPD officer assigned to a stalking case involving a famous actress.

Ellroy's book 'LA Confidential' became an Oscar-winning film, while his other books 'The Black Dahlia' and 'My Dark Places' are also being turned into movies.

The author is currently working on the script for 'The Man Who Kept Secrets', a biopic about Hollywood lawyer Sydney Korshak, and Spike Lee is to direct 'The Night Watchman', from a script also written by Ellroy.
