The death has been announced of the American actor Christopher Reeve, who was 52.
Reeve had been paralysed from the shoulders down following a riding accident in 1995.
He fell into a coma on Saturday after going into cardiac arrest while at his New York home.
His publicist said he died yesterday.
Reeve was best known for playing 'Superman' in a series of four films in the 1970s and early 1980s.
After his accident he became an advocate for people suffering from spinal cord injuries.
