Madonna has responded to Elton John's allegation that she lip-synched to songs while onstage during her 'Reinvention' tour.
While receiving a songwriting award at the Q Awards in London, John expressed anger that Madonna had been nominated in the Best Live Act category, saying, "Since when has lip-synching been live?"
"Anyone who lip-synchs in public on stage when you pay £75 to see them should be shot," he added.
However, Madonna's US spokesperson Liz Rosenberg said in a statement: "Madonna does not lip-synch nor does she spend her time trashing other artists."
"She sang every note of her 'Reinvention' tour live and is not ashamed that she was well paid for her hard work."
The statement added: "Elton John remains on her Christmas card list whether he is nice ... or naughty."
