Meryl Streep is in negotiations to star opposite Sean Penn and Jude Law in the remake of the Oscar-winning 1949 political drama 'All the King's Men'.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Kate Winslet and Mark Ruffalo are also in talks about the film.
If Streep signs up for the movie she will play an aide to Southern politician Willie Stark (Penn).
Law will play Jack Burden, a journalist who helps Stark on his rise to the top.
The film will be directed by Steven Zaillian, the Oscar-winning scriptwriter of 'Schindler's List'. Zaillian has also adapted the screenplay for the remake from Robert Penn Warren's book.
Streep will next be seen on Irish cinema screens opposite Denzel Washington in the remake of 'The Manchurian Candidate'; it opens in November.
