RTÉ reveals new daytime schedule

RTÉ today unveiled a new daytime schedule, which doubles the home-production broadcast on RTÉ One in the afternoon.

The new schedule will also delivers Ireland's most popular Irish soap - 'Fair City' - to daytime viewers for the first time.

The presenters of RTÉ's two brand new shows 'The Afternoon Show' and 'The Big Bite', along with actors from 'Fair City' were at The Market Bar in Dublin to announce the schedule.

'The Afternoon Show' presenters Anna Nolan, Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh and Sheana Keane were joined by the newest player in daytime TV - the respected journalist and broadcaster, David McWilliams, who will host the four-times-weekly topical discussion show, 'The Big Bite'.

Mary Curtis, Assistant Director of Programmes, RTÉ TV, said: "The announcement of this schedule signifies an increased priority being placed on daytime programming at RTÉ."

"We believe the schedule will appeal to a broad, discerning Irish public, hungry for information, entertainment and quality Irish television."

Starting on Monday 4 October, 'Fair City' will be on air every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 1.55pm on RTÉ One.

The Afternoon Show will also begin on Monday 4 October, at 3.15pm on RTÉ One while 'The Big Bite' begins the following Monday, 11 October, at 2.25pm on RTÉ One.
