US chart topper Ashlee Simpson is making the jump from small screen to big with a new movie called 'Wannabe'.
MTV.com reports that the film is due to begin shooting in November.
"I play an actor," Simpson told MTV, "and it's basically about musicians trying to find their way."
Simpson played the character Cecilia Smith in '7th Heaven' on television for two years.
She released her debut album 'Autobiography' earlier this year.
