'Coronation Street' veteran Johnny Briggs has denied a report that he has been sacked from the hit soap.
The Sun claimed today that the 69-year-old, who has played factory boss Mike Baldwin for 28 years, would be written out of the show after dying from a serious illness.
But speaking on GMTV this morning, Briggs said that his contract expired in 2006 and called the report "complete and utter rubbish".
A 'Coronation Street' spokesperson said today: "Johnny Briggs is committed to the show until September 2006. Mike Baldwin is very much a part of the future of 'Coronation Street'."
