'NYPD Blue' star Nicholas Turturro has been cast as a quarterback in Adam Sandler's remake of 'The Longest Yard'.
The film stars Sandler in the role played by Burt Reynolds in the 1974 original - as a convict who leads prison inmates in a game against the guards.
'The Longest Yard' will be directed by Peter Segal who has previously worked with Sandler on '50 First Dates' and 'Anger Management'.
As well as his seven-year stint on 'NYPD Blue', Turturro has appeared in films including 'Excess Baggage', 'The Shipment' and 'The Hillside Strangler'.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is currently working with his brother John on a script for HBO TV film 'The Doorman'.
