Snow Patrol, Franz Ferdinand and Joss Stone have featured in the shortlist of nominations for this year's Mercury Music Prize.
The shortlist announced today also features Basement Jaxx, Belle and Sebastian, Jamelia, Keane, The Streets, Ty, Amy Winehouse, Robert Wyatt and The Zutons.
The annual prize is awarded for the best album of the last year by a UK or Irish Act, chosen from a range of musical genres.
The Mercury Prize is voted for by other music artists, a panel of music industry experts and journalists.
Previous winners include Primal Scream, PJ Harvey, Dizzee Rascal and Badly Drawn Boy.
