Moore - successful Irish release

Michael Moore's controversial film 'Fahrenheit 9/11' has smashed Irish box office records, grossing at €338,339 in the first week of its release.

The film also claims the widest release for a documentary ever in Ireland, showing on 15 screens around the country.

Moore's last feature 'Bowling for Columbine' was also a huge commercial success in Ireland, which was unprecedented for a documentary theatrical release. 'Fahrenheit 9/11' has already outstripped Moore's previous record within a week of its release.

The film has also enjoyed similar success in the UK and the US. Opening figures in the UK were €2.2m, while the film remains at the top of the US box office four weeks after its release.

'Fahrenheit 9/11' is a documentary examination of the Bush administration's actions in the wake of the tragic events of 9/11.
