Irish film premieres at Edinburgh Festival

The world premiere of two Irish films will take place at the Edinburgh International Film Festival in August.

Damien O'Donnell's 'Inside I'm Dancing' and Terry Loane's 'Mickybo & Me' will both be shown during the Festival.

'Inside I'm Dancing' is set in a residential home for the disabled and is described as an "uplifting story of young men overcoming the odds". Shot in Dublin late last year, it stars James McAvoy, Steven Robertson, Romola Garai and Brenda Fricker.

This is the third feature length film from O'Donnell who also directed the BAFTA Award-winning 'East Is East' and 'Heartlands'.

Terry Loane's 'Mickybo & Me' is "the tale of two boys whose friendship crosses the sectarian divide of the Troubles" in 1970.

It is based on Owen McCafferty's acclaimed play and features Niall Wright, John Jo McNeil, Susan Lynch and Julie Walters.

The 2004 Edinburgh International Film Festival will take place from 18 to 29 August.
