Flegg's 'Delft' wins children's book award

The results of the Bisto Book of the Year were announced today with 'Wings Over Delft' by Aubrey Flegg taking the overall honours from a ten-strong shortlist.

This is the fourteenth year that the awards have been presented in recognition of excellence in the field of children's literature by Irish Irish authors, illustrators and publishers.

This year's awards were presented by author Sheila O'Flanagan at a reception at the Bank of Ireland Arts Centre in Dublin.

Merit Awards were presented to Anita Jeram for her illustrations on 'You Can Do It, Sam', Kate Thompson for 'Origins' and Niamh Sharkey for 'Ravenous Beast'.

Alan Titley, author of 'Amach', was the recipient of this year's Eilís Dillon Award.
