'Coronation Street' star Suranne Jones is to leave the soap in November after four years.
The actress, who plays Karen McDonald, is leaving to explore other acting roles with Granada, the company which produces 'Coronation Street'.
Jones, who won the Best Actress award at the British Soap Awards last week, said: "I just think the time is right for me to move on and explore other acting opportunities, whilst leaving the door open for Karen to return."
Jones will be onscreen until December, when viewers will see the climax of the storyline involving Karen McDonald, husband Steve and Tracy Barlow, the mother of his child.
