Award-winning Irish playwright Martin McDonagh will make his directorial debut with a 30-minute film called 'Six Shooter'.

McDonagh recently won his second Olivier Award, taking Best New Play for 'The Pillow Man'. Last year 'The Lieutenant Of Inishmore' was awarded the Best New Comedy Olivier.

His first play, 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane', has won many awards including four Tonys during its off-Broadway run in New York.

McDonagh's work has been sold to over 40 countries and has been translated into over 28 languages.

Black comedy 'Six Shooter' will be his first transition into film and features Brendan Gleeson ('Troy', 'Cold Mountain'), Ruaidhrí Conroy ('Hart's War', 'When The Sky Falls'), David Wilmot ('Intermission') and Aisling O'Sullivan ('The Actors').

The film will be broadcast on Channel 4 and is produced by Missing in Action Films, Funny Farm Film & Television and Fantastic Films and co-funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board and Film Four Lab.
