Cranberries star Dolores O'Riordan and her husband Don Burton have been ordered to pay €1,500 to their former nanny Joy Fahy but her bid to sue the couple for breach of contract and false imprisonment failed.
Fahy was awarded €1,500 in the Dublin High Court today by Judge John Quirke for the loss of personal belongings that were not returned to her after she left the couple's employment.
The judge ruled that Fahy had not proved her other, more serious, allegations that Burton had falsely imprisoned her and that the couple had breached a contract.
He added that O'Riordan and her husband were exemplary parents who were devoted to their son Taylor.
He also said that Fahy was a qualified and competent childminder and her competence had not been challenged.
The former nanny, who worked for O'Riordan and Burton for a short period in 1999, had sued the couple for €12,700, a Cherokee Jeep and the deposit for an apartment.
Afterwards, O'Riordan told reporters that she was very relieved at the decision.
Fahy said that the case was never about money as any money she received would be donated to charity and she would continue to work as a nanny.
