Corrie's Todd quits the soap

'Coronation Street' actor Bruno Langley, who plays teenager Todd Grimshaw, is quitting the soap.

Langley, 22, whose character is currently at the center of a gay storyline, told bosses that he wanted to leave "on a high".

"I have worked at 'Coronation Street' since I left college at 18 and I feel it is time to develop myself as an actor," Langley said.

"The current storyline has been fantastic to play and I am looking forward to seeing how the writers will develop it for my departure."

Langley's character Todd is currently torn between pregnant fiancée Sarah and gay nurse Karl Foster.

Scriptwriters have promised Langley a dramatic exit as the love triangle story reaches its climax.

They added that he will not be killed off, leaving the door open for a possible return.
