Billy Corgan plays first solo show

Former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan made his solo debut with a gig in his hometown of Chicago on Monday night.

Billboard reports that the show took place at the legendary venue the Metro, where Smashing Pumpkins performed during their early days.

Corgan played a 15-song set and also took part in a Q&A session with the audience.

Many of the songs Corgan played were about Chicago, and while the show was filmed for a DVD, the songs may never be recorded.

The singer is currently working on his solo album, a book of poetry and a new website.
