O'Riordan - Case resumes

The High Court action between nanny Joy Fahy and singer Dolores O'Riordan and her husband Don Burton resumed this morning with counsel for the celebrity couple telling Fahy that her recall of events was incredibly unreliable.

Fahy, who worked briefly for the couple in 1997 and 1999, claims she was fired and is suing them for breach of contract and false imprisonment.

Fahy claims that her employment contract with Burton and O'Riordan included a net salary of £500 a month, a new jeep, livery and schooling for her horse and if the contract was prematurely terminated by either party she would receive £10,000.

Key aspects of this alleged contract, which was not in writing, are disputed by the couple and other elements of Fahy's testimony against the couple will be hotly contested and vehemently disputed, their counsel Bill Shipsey said today.

Under continued cross-examination he challenged Fahy's account of an incident when she claimed Burton was drunk and took his then 18-month-old son on a jet-ski while drinking a beer.

He also said that her claim that Burton had said his wife was Bono not Larry while colourful was inaccurate.

Fahy said she would not change her story, she was telling the truth.
