Frank Darabont, the director of 'The Shawshank Redemption' and 'The Green Mile', is writing the script for 'Mission: Impossible 3'.
The Hollywood Reporter says the film will be directed by 'Narc' helmer Joe Carnahan and sees Tom Cruise reprise his role as secret agent Ethan Hunt.
Darabont is replacing the writer of the first two films, Robert Towne, who is directing the big screen adaptation of the John Fante novel 'Ask the Dust', starring Colin Farrell and Salma Hayek.
Darabont recently completed the screenplay for the new Michael Mann thriller 'Collateral', also starring Tom Cruise.
