War will be the theme of the seventh Fresh Film Festival, Ireland's young peoples' film festival, which runs in Limerick from Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 March.
The three films to be screened reflect how young people can become embroiled in adult conflict.
Fresh Film Festival 2004 will present Steven Spielberg's 'Empire Of The Sun', Andrei Tarkovsky's 'Ivan's Childhood' and Roberto Benigni's Oscar-winning 'Life Is Beautiful'.
This year's Fresh programme will also feature a special screening of Roman Polanski's 'The Tragedy Of Macbeth' starring Jon Finch and Francesca Annis as Lord and Lady Macbeth.
The workshops at this year's festival are Acting For Film, Directing For Film - a digital filmmaking workshop hosted by former ISVC winner Conor McMahon - and Make Up For Film, which will be presented by Miriam Garcia Mortell, a recent graduate of Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design.
The Irish Schools Video Competition, which encourages young people to make their own films to be shown on the big screen, will take place at The Belltable Arts Centre in Limerick on the last day of the festival, Friday 26 March.
More than 100 entries were received this year and over 40 films, written, shot and edited by young Irish people between the ages of 12 and 18 years, will be screened at Fresh Film Festival 2004. Prizes are awarded for first, second and third place.
