RTÉ 2fm radio presenter Dave Fanning will be presented with the Industry Award at the 2004 Meteor Ireland Music Awards which take place tonight, Monday 1 March, in Dublin's Point Depot.
Fanning joined the station in 1979 and will celebrate 25 years with 2fm this year. He still presents the 'Fanning Show' six nights a week.
Eighteen Meteor Ireland Music Awards will be presented tonight including Best Irish DJ, Best Irish Pop Act, Best Irish Band, Best Irish Album, Best International Male, Best International Female, Best International Group and Best Live Performance.
Irish music legends, The Dubliners, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award and Sister Stan will be presented with the Humanitarian award and €100,000 for charity.
Katie Melua and Best Irish Band nominees Snow Patrol have confirmed today that they will perform at the Dara O'Briain-hosted ceremony.
New Zealand musician Bic Runga and MTV's Alex Zane will present awards alongside Kerry McFadden, Miss World Rosanna Davidson, Keith Duffy and Hector Ó hEochagáin.
Lionel Richie will perform alongside Counting Crows, The Corrs, Sugababes, Westlife, The Frames, Paddy Casey, The Dubliners, Hothouse Flowers and Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club.
The Meteor Music Awards will be shown on RTÉ Network 2 this Wednesday, 3 March at 9pm.
