Sofia Coppola's 'Lost in Translation' was the big winner at the IFP Independent Spirit Awards in California on Saturday.

Coppola was named Best Director with her film also taking the Best Feature and Screenplay trophies.

Bill Murray was named Best Actor for his performance in the film and Charlize Theron won the Best Actress award for 'Monster'.

Jim Sheridan's 'In America' won in two categories: Djimon Hounsou was named Best Supporting Actor while Declan Quinn won the award for Best Cinematography.

Shohreh Aghdashloo was named Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 'House of Sand and Fog' while 'thirteen' star Nikki Reed won the award for Best Debut Performance.

'Whale Rider' was named Best Foreign Film and '21 Grams' won the Special Distinction Award.
