The Oscar-nominated 'The Barbarian Invasions' was named Film of the Year at the Cesar Awards, France's equivalent to the Academy Awards, at the weekend.
The film's French-Canadian director, Denys Arcand, also won the awards for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
'The Barbarian Invasions', which opened in Ireland last week, is nominated for Best Foreign Film and Best Original Screenplay at this year's Oscars.
Clint Eastwood's 'Mystic River' was named Best Foreign Film while Wolfgang Becker's 'Good Bye, Lenin!' won Best Film from the European Union.
Omar Sharif won Best Actor for 'Monsieur Ibrahim et Les Fleurs du Coran' and Sylvie Testud won Best Actress for 'Fear and Trembling'.
