Bowie and Wilson for film soundtrack

David Bowie and Brian Wilson are to contribute songs to the soundtrack of forthcoming documentary 'Mayor of the Sunset Strip'.

Directed by George Hickenlooper, 'Mayor of the Sunset Strip' is based on the career of Rodney Bingenheimer, an influential Los Angeles DJ on KROQ-FM.

His 'Rodney on the Roq' show is credited with focusing attention on artists like Brian Wilson, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Oasis and Coldplay.

The soundtrack also includes an in-studio performance by Coldplay's Chris Martin and a previously unreleased 1971 performance of 'All the Madmen' by David Bowie.

It will be released in the US on 18 March.
