The nominations for the 2004 Golden Globes have been announced in the US with Irish director Jim Sheridan and his daughters among the nominees.
Sheridan and daughters Kirsten and Naomi have been nominated for the screenplay of their film 'In America'.
Cate Blanchett is shortlisted for her performance in 'Veronica Guerin'.
She is joined by Nicole Kidman ('Cold Mountain'), Scarlett Johansson ('Girl With a Pearl Earring'), Charlize Theron ('Monster'), Uma Thurman ('Kill Bill Volume 1') and Evan Rachel Wood ('Thirteen') in the Best Actress (Drama) category.
Russell Crowe ('Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World'), Tom Cruise ('The Last Samurai'), Ben Kingsley ('House of Sand and Fog'), Jude Law ('Cold Mountain') and Sean Penn ('Mystic River') are the nominees for Best Actor (Drama).
'Cold Mountain', 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King', 'Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World', 'Mystic River' and 'Seabiscuit' have all been nominated in the Best Picture category.
The Best Director shortlist is: Sofia Coppola ('Lost in Translation'), Clint Eastwood ('Mystic River'), Peter Jackson ('The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King'), Anthony Minghella ('Cold Mountain') and Peter Weir ('Master And Commander: The Far Side of the World').'Bend it Like Beckham', 'Big Fish', 'Finding Nemo', 'Lost in Translation' and 'Love Actually' make the shortlist for Best Picture (Musical or Comedy).
The nominees for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy are: Jamie Lee Curtis ('Freaky Friday'), Scarlett Johansson ('Lost in Translation'), Diane Keaton ('Something's Gotta Give'), Diane Lane ('Under the Tuscan Sun') and Helen Mirren ('Calendar Girls').
Jack Black ('School of Rock'), Johnny Depp ('Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'), Bill Murray ('Lost in Translation'), Jack Nicholson ('Something's Gotta Give') and Billy Bob Thornton ('Bad Santa') are the nominees for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.
Renee Zellweger is nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category for her role in 'Cold Mountain' and is joined by Maria Bello ('The Cooler'), Patricia Clarkson ('Pieces of April'), Hope Davis ('American Splendor') and 'Holly Hunter ('Thirteen').
Alec Baldwin ('The Cooler'), Albert Finney ('Big Fish'), William H Macy ('Seabiscuit'), Tim Robbins ('Mystic River'), Peter Sarsgaard ('Shattered Glass') and Ken Watanabe ('The Last Samurai') are nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category.
TV shows nominated for numerous awards include 'Sex and the City', '24', 'The West Wing', 'Six Feet Under' and 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation'.
'The Office' has been nominated in the Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy category with its creator and star Ricky Gervais making the Best Actor shortlist.
The awards ceremony will be held on 25 January 2004.
