The Arts Council has announced an increase in funding to arts organisations of more than 19% from just over €34m in 2003 to just over €40m next year.
375 organisations and 32 local authorities applied for funding.
The Chair of the Arts Council, Olive Braiden, said some organisations would be disappointed.
The Arts Council says a full list of grants to individual organisations would not be published until all organisations had been informed.
