LOTR film receives London premiere

'The Return of the King', the last of the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, premiered in London last night.

An estimated 10,000 fans lined the streets in cold weather, some waiting for over ten hours to catch a glimpse of the movie's stars.

'The Return of the King' is already hotly tipped by the critics to pick up Best Movie and Best Director for Peter Jackson at next year's Academy Awards.

Speaking about the film, New Zealand born director Jackson said that he felt "relief and pride but also sadness" that the trilogy was over.

Actress Liv Tyler was overwhelmed by the reception. "The fans are so sweet. We've had the most incredible time going around these premieres," she said.

The London premiere was attended by the movie's stars Ian McKellen, Liv Tyler, Sean Astin, Viggo Mortensen and Dominic Monaghan, all of whom were greeted with applause from the crowd.
