Campbell blames arrest on medicine

Glen Campbell has said that his arrest for drink-driving earlier this week was as a result of accidentally mixing alcohol with a prescription anti-anxiety drug.

In an interview with the East Valley Tribune newspaper the country singer said: "I'm taking Lexapro and you can't have alcohol with it, and I did. I forgot. That's just it in a nutshell really."

Campbell, 67, told the paper that he had been taking the medication for at least seven months.

He was arrested in Phoenix on Monday after an alleged hit and run but later released on bail.
