A collection of John Hinde Butlin's photographs entitled 'Our True Intent Is All For Your Delight' will go on show at The Gallery of Photography in Temple Bar from Saturday 6 December.
In the late Sixties and early Seventies, the John Hinde Studio in Dublin produced a series of postcards to be sold at Butlin's holiday camps throughout the UK.
An important pioneer of colour photography, John Hinde has been recognised as a significant figure in the social history of photography.
He issued his first six postcards in 1957 and then worked with a team of photographers as he went on to become one of the most successful postcard publishers in the world.
Hinde's trademark was his innovative use of colour and elaborate staging.
The elaborately stage managed images of Butlins were taken by three members of his team - Elmar Ludwig, Edmund Nägele and David Noble - to Hinde's rigorous formula and standards.
Curator/photographer Martin Parr and producer Chris Boot will discuss the story of the John Hinde Butlin's photographs and their legacy at 5.15pm on Tuesday 9 December.
