U2's One top of Greatest Song list

U2's 'One' has been named the Greatest Song Ever Recorded in a new list.

The 1991 track was the writers' and musicians' top choice in Q Magazine's 'The 1001 Best Songs Ever' special with Aretha Franklin's 'I Say a Little Prayer' in second place and Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' in third.

Commenting on 'One's top spot, U2 guitarist The Edge said: "When we named it, I always knew it would be number one at something."

Eight other songs by the band made the list, but only 'One' featured in the top 100.
