'Black Hawk Down' star Josh Hartnett is in talks about one of the lead roles in the big screen adaptation of James Ellroy's classic noir novel 'The Black Dahlia'.
Production Weekly reports that Brian De Palma, helmer of 'Carlito's Way' and 'The Untouchables', is on board to direct.
Based on a notorious unsolved case in Los Angeles, 'The Black Dahlia' follows two detectives who become obsessed with tracking down the killer of a beautiful young woman.
Another of Ellroy's books, the memoir 'My Dark Places', is currently filming with David Duchovny playing the author.
Ellroy's 'LA Confidential' was brought to the screen in 1997, winning Oscars for Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay.
