English-born author Christabel Bielenberg has died at her home in Co Wicklow, aged 94.
She was best known for her autobiographical book, 'The Past is Myself', which described her life in Germany during the Second World War.
Bielenberg's book, published in 1968, tells how she moved from passive to active resistance as Hitler seized power and the Nazi dictatorship clamped down.
It became a bestseller and was dramatised for television by the BBC.
She also wrote four other books including her post-war memoir 'The Road Ahead' in which she described coming to Ireland and settling in the Wicklow Mountains.
