The world-renowned tenor Franco Corelli has died in a Milan hospital at the age of 82.
He was hospitalised in August after what was believed to be a stroke.
Corelli made his opera debut in 1951 in Bizet's 'Carmen' and shared stages with the likes of Maria Callas, Birgit Nilsson, Renata Tebaldi and Joan Sutherland before he retired in 1976.
He is survived by his wife, singer Loretta Di Lelio.
