Potter book 'gives kids headaches'

Children are getting headaches by relentlessly ploughing through the latest Harry Potter book, according to a Washington doctor.

Dr Howard Bennett said that three children experienced a dull headache for two or three days after spending many hours reading the 870-page 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix'.

"The obvious cure for this malady - that is, taking a break from reading - was rejected by two of the patients," Bennett said.

Calling them 'Hogwarts headaches' after the wizard school that Harry attends, Dr Bennett said in all cases the headaches went away only after the patient turned the final page.

'Order of the Phoenix', the fifth book in the series, has nearly three times as many pages as the first Harry Potter book.
