Girls Aloud singer is found guilty

Cheryl Tweedy has been found guilty of assault on a female nightclub attendant by a jury at Kingston Crown Court today.

The 20-year-old Girls Aloud singer was cleared of a further charge of a racist attack against Sophie Amogbokpa at the Drink nightclub in Surrey on 11 January.

The jury of seven men and five women returned a guilty verdict after being given a majority instruction by Judge Richard Haworth.

While he adjourned sentencing until 19 November, Judge Haworth indicated he would give Tweedy community service.
