Rapper Sean 'P Diddy' Combs is hoping to raise $1m for children's charities by running the New York marathon.
He made the announcement at press conference in the city yesterday and said: "Every child needs quality education and health care to train for the marathon of life."
The money will be split amongst New York's public schools, the Children's Hope Foundation, which helps families affected by HIV and AIDS, and Combs' own charity, Daddy's House Social Programs.
Combs is backed by a number of corporate sponsors but anyone is free to donate to the fund.
He said that while he has only been training three weeks for the 2 November race, he will complete the 26.2-mile course - even if it means crawling across the finish line.
