Major labels ready new disc format

It is reported that Warner Music is teaming up with Sony to produce a dual music disc.

The Financial Times says Warner Music hopes the dual disc will revive music sales, which have fallen in recent years.

On one side of the disc will be a music CD and on the other, a DVD video.

It is hoped that production will start next year.

Industry figures show that the value of recorded music sales fell internationally last year from $34.5bn to $32.2bn.

Unit sales of CDs fell from $2.37bn to $2.25bn while sales of DVDs almost doubled from $34.5bn to $62.2bn.
