Amelie composer for two Irish shows

Yann Tiersen, best known for his soundtrack to Jean-Pierre Jeunet's 'Amelie', is to play two Irish shows in November.

In his native France, the writer and composer has released a series of successful albums including last year's 'L'Absente' which featured guest appearances from Lisa Germano and The Divine Comedy's Neil Hannon.

Much of the music from 'Amelie', which has now sold one and a half million copies worldwide, was drawn from Tiersen's first four albums,

He recently composed the score to Wolfgang Becker's 'Goodbye Lenin'; the soundtrack consists of all new material written and recorded especially for the film.

Yann Tiersen will play Vicar Street, Dublin on Wednesday 5 November and Cork's Triskel Arts Centre on Saturday 8 November.
