Damien Rice now Shortlist finalist

Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice is among the ten nominees for the prestigious Shortlist Music Prize in the US.

Rice is nominated for his debut album 'O' and faces competition from the likes of The Streets, Sigur Ros and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Albums by Interpol, Cat Power, The Black Keys, Cody Chestnutt, Floetry and Bright Eyes have also been nominated.

The ten finalists were chosen from a 'longlist' of 86 nominees by a panel of judges, including Coldplay singer Chris Martin, Tom Waits, Flea, Tori Amos, Perry Farrell and directors Spike Jonze and Cameron Crowe.

The prize will be presented at a ceremony on 5 October in Los Angeles.
