Beck is due to go into the studio next week to begin work on the follow-up to his acclaimed album 'Sea Change'.
Describing the music as "pretty aggressive", Beck told Rolling Stone magazine that he had wanted to "do a record with loud guitars for a long time".
Some of the material was written at the time of his 1999 album 'Midnite Vultures'.
Beck plans to record at various locations, including the studio owned by famed collaborators the Dust Brothers with producer Timbaland also set to work on some songs.
