The new Irish film 'Song for a Raggy Boy' has won the Best Film award at the Copenhagen International Film Festival.
14 major European films were in contention for the Best Film award, The Golden Swan, at the inaugural film festival.
'Song for a Raggy Boy' was screened at the festival last Friday with director Aisling Walsh and star Aidan Quinn in attendance.
The film tells the story of a Spanish Civil War veteran (Quinn) who returns to Ireland and battles the regime in a Catholic reformatory school for boys.
Director Walsh and producers Tristan Orpen Lynch and Dominic Wright collected the award at a ceremony last night.
'Song for a Raggy Boy' premieres in Ireland at the Cork Film Festival on 12 October and goes on nationwide release on 17 October.
