'Lord of the Rings' helmer Peter Jackson is to pick up one of the largest directing fees in movie history for his remake of 'King Kong'.
Variety says he will earn $20m for the movie although some of the money will be shared with writers Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.
'King Kong' was last remade in 1976 with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange in the lead roles.
The third 'Lord of the Rings' film, 'The Return of the King', opens worldwide on 18 December.
