Missy Elliot's music video, 'Work It', has received eight nominations for the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards.
The rap star topped the list of nominees, followed closely by Justin Timberlake who got seven nominations - five for the 'Cry Me A River' video and two for 'Rock Your Body'.
Country legend Johnny Cash is also in the running with six nominations for his video 'Hurt'.
Cash said: "I am overwhelmed by this great honour. I thank you all for thinking of me."
The 20th MTV Video Music Awards show will be broadcast live from New York City's Radio City Music Hall on Thursday 28 August.
It will be hosted by comedian Chris Rock and feature performances by Coldplay and Christina Aguilera.
