LeBlanc inks Friends spin-off deal

Matt LeBlanc has signed a deal to star as his 'Friends' character Joey Tribbiani in a new spin-off series.

The new show will be called 'Joey' and is set to premiere in the US in the autumn of 2004 in the schedule slot currently occupied by 'Friends'.

Speaking to reporters, the President of US network NBC, Jeff Zucker, said that LeBlanc was the only member of the 'Friends' cast to be approached about his own series.

LeBlanc recently received an Emmy nomination for his work on 'Friends'; he can currently be seen on Irish cinema screens in 'Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle'.
