John Travolta will play the villain in the new big screen adaptation of Marvel comic 'The Punisher'.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Travolta's character is Howard Saint, a self-made man whose violent past returns when his son is murdered.
Thomas Jane, who recently starred in 'Dreamcatcher', will play the title role of vigilante hero Frank 'The Punisher' Castle.
Shooting is set to begin in Florida in July.
This is the second time 'The Punisher' has made the jump to cinemas: a previous film, starring Dolph Lundgren in the title role, was released in 1989.
