Eva Narcissus Boyd died of cervical cancer on 9 April in hospital in North Carolina according to her manager.
Boyd was a teenager working as a babysitter for songwriters Carole King and Gerry Goffin in 1962 when they asked her to record 'The Loco-Motion'.

Little Eva had minor hits with 'Keep Your Hands Off My Baby' in 1962 and 'Old Smokey Loco-Motion' in 1963.
She sang backing vocals for The Drifters, Ben E King and others and continued to perform until 2001, when she became too ill.
She is survived by two daughters and a son.
