Johnny Cash released from hospital

Johnny Cash has been released from hospital after being treated for pneumonia.

The 71-year-old singer was admitted to the Nashville Baptist Hospital on 10 March, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Fifteen months ago Cash was diagnosed with autonomic neuropathy, a disease of the nervous system that makes him susceptible to pneumonia.

Despite ongoing problems with his health, Cash released his latest album, 'American IV: The Man Comes Around', last November.

In February he won his eleventh Grammy award, in the Best Male Country Vocal Performance category, for 'Give My Love to Rose'.
