Oscar wins boost Chicago's takings

Miramax International say international box office takings for 'Chicago' have increased by 25% since the Oscars.

Rob Marshall's Broadway musical adaptation won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Catherine Zeta-Jones last month.

The film grossed an estimated €6.4m over last weekend to raise its international total to approximately €73.4m.

'Chicago' has already taken $144.5m (€132.6m) in the US to date, bringing it to a worldwide total (and Miramax record) of €206m.
