Toploader announce they have split

In a message on their website, pop band Toploader have said they "have decided to call it a day".

The band, whose biggest hit was 'Dancing in the Moonlight' in 2000, made the announcement on Tuesday.

A message on the news page of toploader.com reads: "To all our friends. We have decided to call it a day with Toploader. We just wanted to thank you all for your support over the years, you have been the best fans, and we will miss you all. Cheers, the band."

Toploader were fronted by singer/keyboard player Joseph Washbourne. Their first album, 'Onka's Big Moka', was a top five hit in the UK in 2000.

Their second album, 'At the Magic Hotel', released last year was not as successful and their most recent single, 'Time of My Life', only made it into the Top 40.

They were recently dropped by their record label, Sony S2.
